In response to a question regarding DPP authorities' claims that the Civil Aviation Administration of China's announcement to activate the M503 air route's W121 connector compresses Taiwan island's air defense depth and warning time, thereby attempting to completely erase the "median line of the Taiwan Straits" and posing a "military threat" to Taiwan, Jiang Bin, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Defense, stated on Monday that Taiwan is a part of China and there is no such thing as a "median line of the Taiwan Straits."
The establishment and activation of the relevant flight routes is a routine task carried out by the competent authorities based on the needs of civil aviation development and management, which is beneficial for both sides of the Taiwan Straits. The DPP authorities, for their own party interests, are using this to hype the so-called "military threat from the mainland," attempting to create security anxiety, heighten confrontation, and obstruct cross-Straits exchanges, which is unpopular and will not succeed, Jiang said.
The root cause of the current tense and turbulent cross-Straits relations lies in the DPP authorities colluding with external forces to continuously provoke "independence", Jiang said, adding that we hope that the vast majority of Taiwan compatriots can see through the DPP authorities' true intentions of seeking "independence," recognize the serious harm of "Taiwan independence" separatism, firmly oppose "Taiwan independence" actions, and jointly maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.
